Hey There

My name is Harriet Clements and I am an aspiring motorsport and automotive photographer. This is my story...

All About Me

Hello everyone,

My name is Harriet Clements and I am a motorsport and automotive photographer from Torquay. I have lived near Torquay for my whole life and recently moved to Cheltenham for my studies at the University of Gloucestershire. Growing up, I have found a passion for photography ever since I got my first camera at the age of 8. I took it everywhere with me from photographing things in my garden to photographing landmarks on holidays. My dad took a liking to photography and always took photos of the family for a photobook every year. He helped me with my photography as he found it interesting and fun as a hobby. As I started secondary school in Newton Abbot, I learnt more about my options for GCSE's and found that Photography was a GCSE. At this moment, I took this GCSE not knowing how far I would get to it in my future. t was still a hobby to me but learning all these different techniques and styles made this passion for photography grow.

After GCSE's, I struggled to know what I wanted to do as a career pathway. I stuck with having photography and completed the A Level. Throughout my A Levels, I did lots of thinking about what I could do for the future. I found that I didn't want anything too academic and felt the more creative route would be better for me. As I applied for different Universities and had open days at local ones, I found the University of Gloucestershire offered a really great photography course and have had many successful photographers come from this course. This inspired me to develop my passion into a career and so i chose photography at this University. After I had the interview, I received an email from the University offering me an unconditional offer. This made me feel like I could do this for a career and pushed my ambitions further.

At the University of Gloucestershire, I am studying the course, Photography: Editorial and Advertising. So far, this course has helped me develop skills as a motorsport photographer but also helped me develop a variety of different skills within Photography. I have experimented with the use of a studio and studio lighting along with portraiture and still life photography. I have also experimented with analogue photography and the facilities here on the campus, e.g. the darkroom and negative scanners.

Whilst also being at University, it has given me a chance to explore motorsport races more and experiment with this area of photography. I have been to many different races near by and further away for example; Brands Hatch GT races, local hill climbs and Japfest at Silverstone. They all have been great experiences and is something enjoy a lot.

I hope this background information is helpful and if you wish to enquire about anything, don't be affraid to get in contact with me and I will be happy to respond. Thank you!
